… And it’s a go! Again! We’re thrilled to be planning our third Applewood Harvest Festival, kindly sponsored by 4EveryEvent, and our Tru-Cape Fruit Marketing Trail Running Challenge. We invite all fresh air fitness enthusiasts, outdoor lovers, adventurers, foodies, grannies, grandpas, aunties, uncles and lots of children for eating, drinking, playing, running and generally spending precious family time together at our celebration of the end of a busy Harvest Season.
The Applewood Harvest Festival is filled with apple-themed activities and the best of Elgin’s gourmet artisanal and farm-grown produce. Expect fine fare from local restaurants The Poolroom, Hickory Shack, Peregrine Farm Stall and the exciting new addition of Chicas Food for a Spanish twist as well as the best of craft cider and Elgin wines. Master an apple tasting, buy apple pies and apples by the bag and let the children run free. There will be lots of entertainment for both young and old from hay-diving, face-painting, archery, pony-riding to zip-lining and apple bobbing as well as loads of beautiful crafts, homeware and things of beauty from local artists. This year, we plan to close off the festivities with live music performed by our very own Apple Rockers, the Somerset College Jazz Band as well as some very talented local musicians, and a picnic supper in the evening. It just keeps getting better. Don’t miss it.
The Tru-Cape Trail Run offers both an 11km trail through the beauty of the surrounding farmlands, or a more gentle 5km Fun Run. These scenic courses will take you though the apple and pear orchards that surround our beautiful country school.
Just one hour from Cape Town but make a weekend of it by contacting Elgin Valley Tourism.
